Our Pastor

Jeff Hensley has been our pastor since January of 2017.  "Pastor Jeff" was born in Asheville, North Carolina, and received Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord at age 10. He began to feel a call to ministry at a very young age, and began to have opportunities to preach during his teens.  Jeff followed God's leadership through college, seminary, and into a pastorate that has now covered three decades.

Pastor Jeff was educated at Mars Hill College (now "University"), Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Princeton Theological Seminary.  He has been privileged to serve churches in North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.  In addition to serving local congregations, he has been an adjunctive professor of Hebrew Bible and Christian Worship at Baptist colleges, and has enjoyed serving as an associate chaplain for several local and regional hospitals.

Jeff is married to the former Cecelia Anderson, also of Asheville, and they are parents of grown children and have two grandchildren.  Having served at one time in nearby Vance County, the Hensleys were grateful to God for the call to come and share in following Jesus, together with the historic Hester Baptist Church, and they are looking forward to many years together with this wonderful body of believers.
